Welcome to Summer Reading 2022! This year’s theme is “An Ocean of Possibilities”. Explore books and programs at several locations, through August 31. Kids registration and reading log can be picked up at the front desk.
Featured Programs for Youth and Families
Beach in a Box with Sarah Mayes. Tuesday, July 19, 2022 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Imagine a walk along the seashore. What might we find? Children will learn about seashells and other special seaside treasures that might be found along the beach. Each child will then get to create a little “Beach in a Box” filled with tiny treasures to take home! For 1-5th graders. This program will be held at Vincent Clark Park, Beach Road in Stony Point.
Pirates: Lost at Sea Presented by Talewise. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Ahoy there, matey! Set sail with us on a thrilling action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a desert island. With mutiny and high-tide looming, they must rescue their salty captain and find a way to repair their ship before all hope is lost … at sea! Throughout the story, we’ll explore the incredible science behind clouds, physical and chemical changes, air pressure, and more! Volunteers from the audience will help us conduct several hands-on science experiments that ‘ARRR’ sure to amaze you! Don’t miss your chance to experience this interactive nautical tale — with a refreshing splash of science!
Summer Reading Finale with Two by Two Animal Haven. Tuesday, August 16, 2022 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Celebrate the end of Rose Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program by visiting the animals of Two by Two Animal Haven! We’ll have many animals for kids and their parents to see ! Come and learn about these wonderful animals! It will be a wonderful time for all ages! This program will be held at 117 West Main Street in Stony Point.

Book Binding (Nature Journal). Part 1: Friday, July 8, 2022 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Part 2: Monday, August 1, 2022 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Learn how to bind your own book! Using watercolor paper to make the signatures, we will bind them together with needle & thread to create a small journal suitable for writing notes, drawing sketches or even a little painting. This program will be held at 117 West Main Street in Stony Point.

June Board Meeting
Time: June 16, 2021 05:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Due to public health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, the Rose Memorial Library Board of Trustees may not be meeting in person. In accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order 202.1 the June 16, 2021 monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees will be conducted via videoconferencing through the Zoom Application, and a transcript will be provided at a later date. The public will have an opportunity to see and hear the meeting live and provide comments. The public can watch the live meeting through the Zoom Application. If any interested members of the public would like to provide comments on any portion of the monthly meeting agenda, comments can be called in during the meeting.
Comments can be also be provided by email before and during the meeting to F. Hollis Griffin, Jr., Secretary to the Board of Trustees at fhgriffinjr@gmail.com. Any proposed resolutions may be reviewed and downloaded here.
