Thanks to everyone who came out in support of the Library, Romolo’s on the Road, Icee is Nice, Chomped, and all of the vendors who lent their time and/or contributed a prize to our raffle. Raffle winners have been notified. We look forward to making this a yearly event!
New Catalog Launching July 14On July 14 you will notice a very different looking Catalog that has the feel of a site like Amazon. It’s called Aspen Discovery, and it is going to make searching for books and putting them on hold much easier. There’s nothing you have to do to set it up, and nothing from your old account will be lost – but like all new things it may take some time getting used to! With Aspen Discovery You Can:
JULY ADULT PROGRAMSJoin us to meet the new book club members! The goal of these sessions is to decide what the group would like to read (fiction, memoirs, poetry, cookbooks – it can be anything); and confirm dates for future meetups. Our Saturday session will include a nice catered brunch. Saturday, July 22, 11am – 12pm & Monday, July 24, 6pm – 7pm Join us for a leisurely stroll in Rockland County and get to know the local flora and fauna of the area. We will explore medicinal, culinary and other uses of what’s growing in our backyard! Bring water, wear appropriate clothing/footwear and bring bug spray. The location will be confirmed closer to the date and emailed to those registered. Join others in knitting, crochet, sewing, embroidery, quilting etc. Fun and social! All ages and skills welcome! ARTS & CRAFTSDecoupage – Bring Your Own Object Join us to create one-of-a-kind decorative objects! Bring your own: box, tray, plate/platter, shells, flower pots etc. We will have decorative papers but you are also welcome to bring your own special papers or special cutouts to adorn your objects. Suminagashi (Japanese Paper Marbling) The suminagashi marbling technique is an ancient meditative process that emphasizes mindfulness, slowing down, and the value of imperfection known as ‘wabi sabi’. In this class we will experiment with materials and techniques to make paper that can be used to wrap gifts, frame as art, or as the cover for a book or journal. Zentangle Time In this class we will explore a few special methods to use art as therapy to calm your mind. We will be working with a combination of Sharpie markers, Micron pens, watercolors, markers &/or colored pencils.Teens welcome to join. Beginner Watercolors – Beach Scene Explore the special quality of watercolors – enjoy the process and learn essential watercolor techniques. Fills up quickly, register early. Your ticket is good for the craft (all materials and instruction provided), 1 beer or wine, and a raffle ticket for a fabulous door prize donated by a local business. Bring your friends!
All proceeds go to the Friends of Rose Memorial Library, which provides support for Rose Memorial Library.
About the Craft
You will be making a set of four coasters using an acrylic pour technique. Instruction will be provided by artist and Program Coordinator, Joy Buckhout, of Rose Memorial Library.
This event takes place in the beautiful taproom at Industrial Arts Brewing Co. in the Garnerville Arts building. You are welcome to bring your own food.
