Watercolors: Open Studio

Wednesday, Aug. 2, 11am-1pm

Join us for an open studio of watercolor painting.  Bring your own reference photo or you can use one of our art books for inspiration. We will have all the basic supplies but if you want higher quality materials please bring your own. We recommend Arches brand paper (100% cotton). An art instructor will be on site.

Macrame Plant Hanger

Wednesday, Aug. 2, 4-6pm

Join us for a beginner’s class to explore the art of macrame. We will create a simple yet decorative rope hanger for a 4-6" pot. Plant/Pot not provided.

Galaxy Bracelet

Wednesday, Aug. 9, 4-6pm

We will use alcohol inks to create a galaxy design on a bracelet bezel and then put it inside a glass dome to create a unique "gem" for a bracelet.

Nature Foraging Walk

Saturday, Aug. 12, 2-4pm

Take a  stroll with an expert forager and see what we can find!  We will explore medicinal, culinary and other possibilities for what’s growing this time of year. Bring water, wear appropriate clothing/footwear for the weather, and sunscreen/bug spray. This will take place in Rockland County  – meetup location will be emailed to registrants.

Zentangle & Neurographic Art

Wednesday, Aug. 30, 11am-1pm

In this class we will explore a few special methods to use art as therapy to calm your mind. We will be working with a combination of Sharpie markers, Micron pens, watercolors, markers and colored pencils. Teens & tweens are also welcome to join.

Paper Quilling

Wednesday, Aug. 9, 1-3pm

We will use strips of colored paper and tools to roll paper & create a unique 3D paper design.

Easy Loom Weaving

Monday, Aug. 7, 4-6pm

Learn how to make a woven wall hanging using simple materials -yarn, a tapestry needle, some cardboard, and a fork!  You will first learn how to create an easy loom (out of cardboard), then learn how to weave, change yarns, and make some different patterns.

Needle Felting

Monday, Aug. 7, 1-3pm

Needle felting is a creative craft that involves sculpting shapes and figures using wool and special felting needles. We will be making a cute  felted cat.

Book Club

Saturday, Aug. 12, 11am-12pm

Join us for a lively discussion of our August book club pick over food and drinks! We are reading Bird Box by Josh Malerman (which became a Netflix thriller with Sandra Bullock). Copies are available at the Library and in our Catalog.  Anyone is welcome to join the bookclub!

Join us to create a paper lantern with pressed botanicals as decoration. It makes a great piece of home decor with a tea light.

Aesop’s Fables with Wonderspark Puppets

It’s a puppet show double feature with  ‘The Lion and the Mouse’ and ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’. presented by NYC based Wonderspark Puppets. Each fable is highly interactive, plus we learn about forgiveness, the power of kindness, and good sportsmanship.
