After years of careful thought and deliberation, Rose Memorial Library Association is asking Stony Point residents to vote on a public funding ballot measure to purchase and renovate the old schoolhouse at 117 W. Main St. The board has created a plan that will broaden and modernize the Library’s offerings, creating a true center for gathering, learning, creativity, and historical preservation for the whole Stony Point community. Funding for this project will be up for Stony Point voter approval on the November 2022 ballot following a petition to place it on the ballot in July. Passage of this funding will allow Rose Memorial Library to:
● Purchase and renovate the historic former school house at 117 W Main St. and open it for use by the whole Stony Point community.
● Expand free creative, entertaining, and educational programming for all ages.
● Offer free spaces for local community groups to meet.
● Support students, entrepreneurs, and those working remotely by offering quiet work spaces, fast wi-fi, and updated technology.
● Create the only free, safe, engaging space for tweens and teens in Stony Point.
