This month our book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak; the extraordinary, beloved novel about the ability of books to feed the soul even in the darkest of times. If you saw the movie instead, that’s fine too – this is a fun and social Book Club. Mon., Sept. 16, 2 pm – 4 pm Learn to fold pages of a used book to create a sculptural piece of art! This is a great upcycle craft. You can bring your own hard-bound book, or we will have some. Youth ProgramsTues., Sept. 24, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm Kids layer wool in colors of their choice on a pre-cut, flat apple shape. A drop of soap, a little warm water and gentle agitation in a sealed bag on special mat will “felt” the layers together creating a soft, colorful, 100% wool Apple. Perfect activity to aid in motor skills and sensory development. It’s almost pumpkin time! Sign-up will start soon to reserve a foam pumpkin for our annual book character pumpkin contest. Circle Time (Ages 1-5) Messy Meetups (Ages 0-5) LEGO Builders Fun with Play Dough An Update from Rose Memorial Library AssociationRose Memorial Library is officially on the November 5, 2024 ballot for an increase in funding that would support the building of a larger library; moving and rental costs during the construction period; expanded hours and services; and the increased operating costs that would accompany a larger building and expanded hours and services. Over the next two months Rose Memorial will be visiting local community groups, hosting community forums, and answering questions and sharing information about the proposal on its website and social media channels.
